The K-Fuel® method refines coal before it is burned, generating a more heat-efficient coal with reduced mercury content (by as much as 80%) allowing coal-fired boilers to achieve lower nitrogen oxide and chloride emissions on a per-kilowatt hour generated basis. K-Fuel® has the ability to increase the heating value of coal, while lowering impurities and reducing overall emissions of sulfur oxides (SO_x), nitrogen oxides (NO_x), carbon dioxide (CO₂) and mercury (Hg) from coal-fired power plants.
