KFX APPOINTS ANDREAS H. VIETOR AS DIRECTOR OF INVESTOR RELATIONS DENVER, March 16, 2005 -- KFx Inc. (Amex: KFX) today announced that it has appointed Andreas H. "Andy" Vietor to the newly created position of Director of Investor Relations, effective immediately. Until recently Mr. Vietor was Vice President and Senior Oilfield Services Equity Analyst in the equity research department of Stifel Nicolaus Hanifen Imhoff, Inc., a Midwest-based, full-service investment bank. Mr. Vietor's universe of coverage at Stifel Nicolaus included KFx. In addition to serving as Director of Investor Relations, Mr. Vietor will also be responsible for supporting KFx's finance department and business development activities. "Andy brings to KFX a strong understanding of the global energy business and the public energy equity markets, in addition to our operations and business economics, having researched and reported on KFx," said Ted Venners, Chairman and CEO of KFx. "His proven analytic and communication skills will greatly aid in our communications with the investment community, and will also add further strength to our finance and strategic planning efforts." Mr. Vietor commented, "KFx has been among the most unique and exciting opportunities I've covered in my career as an equity analyst, and that fact clearly played a large role in my decision to join the company. I look forward to continuing a positive dialogue with the financial community from my new position, while also working with Ted, Bob Hanfling and the whole team to grow the company." Prior to joining Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., (becoming Stifel Nicolaus Hanifen Imhoff, Inc. in January 2000), in March 1998, Mr. Vietor served as an Oilfield Services Equity Analyst at Rodman & Renshaw from 1996 to 1998. Mr. Vietor also served in various capacities at J&W Seligman and Salomon Smith Barney, Inc, between 1992 and 1996. Mr. Vietor graduated with honors in Economics from Connecticut College earning a B.A. in History and Economics. He also holds an M.B.A. from the Columbia University School of Business.
