EVERGREEN ENERGY INC ANNOUNCES STOCKHOLDER APPROVAL OF NAME CHANGE

DENVER, November 9, 2006 - Evergreen Energy Inc (NYSE Arca: EEE) today reported that its stockholders have approved its name change from KFx Inc to Evergreen Energy Inc.

A special meeting of stockholders was held this morning, in accordance with the Bylaws of the Corporation and the Delaware General Corporation Law. At this meeting, over 99% of the voting shares were in favor of adopting the name change.

The Company's Board of Directors approved the name change on September 19, 2006, and the Company has been doing business as Evergreen Energy Inc since September 25, 2006.

"We believe that our name Evergreen Energy Inc reflects the position that our company offers an immediate economical, environmental and efficiency improvement to coal, which is our nation's largest domestic energy source," commented Mark Sexton, Chairman and CEO. "We think our K-FuelTM Refined Coal can be of immediate value to regulators and the new Congressional leadership as our country re-emphasizes energy and environmental solutions."
