G-8 Discussions on Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions Need to Address Immediate and Long-Term Clean Solutions

Evergreen Energy's Refined Coal Viewed as Immediate Solution to Help Address Domestic and Global Energy Demand and Environmental Challenges

DENVER - May 31, 2007 - Evergreen Energy Inc. today commented on President Bush's call for global talks on greenhouse gas emissions, urging that immediately available solutions such as refined coal be discussed when G-8 delegates meet next week to consider new means for reducing CO2 emissions. Evergreen Energy is a leader in the development and production for refined coal.

Refined coal is a readily available energy resource derived from a pre-combustion process that transforms lower rank coal into a cleaner, more efficient and affordable solid fuel to meet today's industrial and utility customers' demands for increased energy. In the process, refined coal also addresses domestic and global environmental concerns such as CO2 and mercury emissions.

Engineering calculations suggest that refined coal made from abundant sub-bituminous and lignite coals found in the western U.S. and around the world reduce CO2 emissions at coal-fueled power plants that previously burned "raw" low-rank coals.
