FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RAPID CITY, S.D. - May 9, 2007 - A high-ranking group of state, academic and industry leaders joined together in Rapid City, South Dakota today to announce the official launch of C-Lock Technology Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Evergreen Energy Inc. In concert with Evergreen Energy, C-Lock Technology will market an Internet-based, patent-pending technology developed in the school's labs that accurately quantifies greenhouse gas emissions credits, also know as carbon emissions reduction credits. South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds, School of Mines and Technology President Dr. Charles Ruch, Evergreen Energy Inc. Founder and Chief Technology Officer Ted Venners and Zimmerman hailed the official opening of C-Lock Technology's' offices as an effective example of South Dakota's initiative, spearheaded by Rounds, to stimulate the state's economy through the commercialization of technology born on state university campuses. They were joined by Jim Mirehouse, CEO of the Black Hills Business Development Center, Dr. Sherry Farwell of the School of Mines, Reuben Ritthaler, a member of the C-Lock Technology Board of Directors.

C-Lock Technology will be housed in the Black Hills Business Development Center on the campus of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and will have access to the campus' intellectual and technological resources while operating an applied science laboratory to develop cleaner coal solutions. The laboratory will support the operations of Evergreen Energy's coal refinery in nearby Gillette, Wyoming while linked closely with the school's Institute of Atmospheric Science research and graduate programs. The Rapid City Economic Development Foundation owns and operates the Black Hills Business Development Center.

"This is a public-private initiative with a positive impact at the local, state, national and international levels," said Zimmerman, who owns C-Lock Inc., which has licensed its process on a worldwide basis to C-Lock Technology. "It will generate local jobs, income for regional farmers and ranchers, educational opportunities and commercial opportunities using an environmental technology that addresses an immediate need."
