Evergreen Energy Expands Program Agreements With Bechtel to Cover EPC Services

DENVER - September 20, 2007 - Evergreen Energy Inc (NYSE Arca: EEE) a leader in providing solutions for energy and environmental needs, has amended and restated its umbrella agreement with Bechtel Power Corporation (BPC).

Evergreen Energy has committed to provide BPC with $1 billion in construction contracts through 2013. This amended agreement defines more sharply the scope of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services which may be performed by BPC. Evergreen will use BPC’s services to oversee both technical development and implementation of all new facilities and existing plants, including both K-Fuel® and K-Directsm plants.

“It is a significant step for Evergreen to have a world class EPC contractor like Bechtel leading the implementation of our K-Fuel® and K-Direct sm plants,” said Kevin R. Collins, president and CEO of Evergreen Energy, noting that clean coal technology is a solution to concerns about greenhouse gas emissions. “For a number of groups, K-Fuel® fits the bill as clean coal technology that lowers emissions and raises efficiency in coal-fired power plants. With Bechtel’s involvement we will further expand our production and bring cleaner, refined coal solutions to even more coal consumers.”

Under its existing Technical Services Agreement (TSA) with Evergreen, which will remain in force, BPC will continue to provide construction management and project management for the Ft. Union, Wyoming plant, as well as business development support and standardized plant design services.
